  • Recycling Hub at Ulster Carpets

    Following the acquisition of Axfelt, any carpet waste from Ulster’s sites is now diverted to the a site in Axminster, Devon, to be turned into fully sustainable triple layer underlay made from 100% recycled materials, including old carpet and used rubber tyres. The site will become the Ulster Group Recycling Hub. Ulster has a continued focus on environmental and sustainability and last year formed a dedicated Environmental Working Group.

    Associated Weavers sets the highest standards for in-store displays and for the launch of Invictus LVT it has reinvented the in-store display and brings a tool with an intuitive digital module that offers a great user experience to guide customers through an efficient and fun-to-do purchase process. The unit is 3.9m wide with interactive touch-screen, detachable swing-arm sample displays and a specially-lit presentation panel. Its development drew on 18 months of market research for the Invictus launch with 50 retailers.

    The Foundation engaged the UK Government in an active lobbying campaign during lockdown to confirm that flooring retailers were ‘homewares’ providers and thus ‘essential’ retailers. This successful lobbying ensured flooring retailers in England were able to open in May, way before other retailers. Its work certainly caught the imagination of the industry as on Facebook alone, the Foundation’s letter to trade ministers was seen by 13,128 people.

    The Metro group rose to the coronavirus challenge to help their retail members. The move made Metro members compliant with Government guidelines at a stroke without stress.
